The little nuthatchs and chickadees are regular visitors to my back door and I watch their activity often. The series of foliage studies with birds starts with an abstract pattern of texture and is developed with subsequent layers of colour, gradually building up value contrast until the shape and composition emerge. Image size 14 1/2" H X 10 1/2"W, medium is watercolour. This piece can be viewed at the Surrey Art Gallery in Bear Creek Park and is part of their art rental programme.
